Obituary of Clarence William Snelling
Clarence William Snelling, 87, of Utica, Indiana, passed away May 26, 2019 at Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 24, 1932 in Clark County, Indiana to the late Will Ed Snelling and Faye Underwood Snelling. He was retired superintendent of Champion Wood Products, the former owner of Snelling’s Freeway in Jeffersonville and the Bun Box in Utica. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Clarence was a member of the Old Utica School Preservation non-profit organization.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Broy Snelling; three brothers, Donnie Snelling, Carl Snelling and Jerry Snelling; one sister, Mary Lou Thomasson; and one great-grandson, Noah Snelling.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda Klingsmith (Randell), Jacky Snelling (Joshlen), Lynn Snelling (Linda), Wimmie Snelling (Becky), Ricky Snelling (Debbie),Gary Snelling, and Randy Snelling (Elaine); 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dale Snelling.
A service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 on Thursday at the funeral home.
